21st March, 2023

Captains Alan and Marie choose a tandem bicycle to make their grand entrance to their 2023 Drive-In at Knightsbrook Golf Club on Mother’s Day. Having planted the traditional tree to commemorate their big day, Captain Alan and Lady Captain took to the Tandem and gracefully manoeuvred their shinning machine through the waiting guard of honour formed by the members near the first tee. Earlier, members gathered for tea/coffee and scones provided by Mr Peter Igoe. Presentations were made to both captains to mark the occasion by vice captains, Leonard and Mary and the traditional bottle of bubbly was popped to celebrate the beginning of the golfing year. Once the formalities were completed, Marie Gordon split the fairway with a very good drive followed by a slightly wayward but respectable drive from Alan Codd. After the 9-hole scramble, members enjoyed a lovely meal and social evening followed by the presentation of prizes for the spring league and the Drive-In scramble. Both captains thanked the members for attending and wished all members a very enjoyable golfing year. They also thanked Mr Igoe, the ground, shop and catering staff for their work throughout the year.  Prior to the social event a minute’s silence was observed as a mark of respect to the club’s late member Mr  Paul Sharp who sadly passed away a few weeks prior to the Drive-In.
