Our Inter-club competitions are now in full swing with a number of our teams already in action. Well done to all Club members who are representing Knightsbrook GC and a special word of thanks to our Team Managers for all of their hard work so far preparing, organising and assembling members to represent the club.
Our Mixed Foursomes team managed by Elva Leavy and Ray Murray had a great win against Bellewstown GC in early April. This is a mixed foursome competition with five pairings. The team is in action again this Saturday 29th of April against Kilcock GC. Best wishes to all team members. Our Barton Cup team co-managed by John Nolan and Davey Maguire beat Black Bush GC (4-1) over the Easter weekend. At home in Knightsbrook “safe” pairings of (Alan Kirwan & Alban Lawless) and (Ray Murray & Joe Rayfus) delivered two home points. While away in the Black Bush GC (Ray Glennon & Damien McDonnell) and (Anthony Farrelly & Francis O Donaghue) recorded two famous points for great away wins. Next up is Killeen Castle GC and is fixed for May 7th. Best of luck lads.
Our Duggan Cup team managed by Joe McGrane were well beaten during the Easter break by a very strong Headfort GC team. This was a foursome competition and the standard of golf was very high on the day. Hard luck to all Club members involved. Our Provincial Towns team co-managed by Francis O Donaghue and Ray Murray had a big win against Kilcock Golf Club. This is nine man singles Matchplay competition for handicaps of nine or more. Well done to all team members involved. Team on the day: Alan Kirwan, Terry McCorry, Anthony Farrelly, Ken Butterfield, Joe Rayfus, Michael Murray, Donal Geraghty, Philp Byrne & Eugene Healy. Next up is a local derby against near neighbours County Meath Golf Club.
