The event was founded by PING in 2002. Previous PING Junior Solheim Cup competitors include Paula Creamer, Anna Nordqvist, Morgan Pressel, Tania Elosegui, Brittany Lincicome and Melissa Reid.

In 2011 the European Team will be Captained by Lotta Neumann, a former British and US Women’s Open Champion, with a total of 27 professional wins and who represented Europe in six Solheim Cups between 1990 and 2000 and was a Vice Captain at The 2009 Solheim Cup. The American Team will be Captained by Meg Mallon who has got a total of 19 tour titles and have played in eight Solheim Cup matches and was the Vice Captain at The 2009 Solheim Cup.

The aim of the PING Junior Solheim Cup is to give participants great golfing opportunities to further their golfing careers and to support the future golf stars.

Once the contest is over the juniors will meet players from The Solheim Cup teams as well as watch The Solheim Cup at Killeen Castle from September 23-25, just 15 minutes’ drive from Knightsbrook Resort Spa & Golf Hotel.

The 2011 PING Junior Solheim Cup will take place from September 20-21 at Knightsbrook Resort Spa & Golf Hotel, Trim, Co. Meath, Ireland. The event is a team match play competition between Europe and the United States, each team featuring the best 12 female golfers aged between 12 and 18.
