A message from Junior Golf Conveyor Richard Wheeler.

On Saturday, the 16th of September a piece of history was made in Knightsbrook golf club. For on that very day the Junior golf club held their very first end of season fundraising day. This was a huge success due to the hard work of the junior committee and the help from parents, family and staff members from the Golf-shop, volunteers and especially a big thank you to all our sponsors who have helped provide the financed foundation for the junior club. These contributions are vital to helping provide for equipment, prizes and other costs associated with such a club.

The rain eased off a little before the juniors were about to tee off in their four-person team scramble. It was a shotgun start and such was the excitement of the juniors, bad weather was not going to deter them from playing in the last competition of the year. Forty juniors in total played from our membership of 50, which was a fantastic turn out on the day. Presentation of prizes and hot food was laid on for the juniors when they finished their round of golf. They played the first five holes and a winning score of 21 was a remarkable achievement considering the conditions.

The Captain, Lady Captain, President and Vice Captain were all present and each one remarked how proud they were to be part of the occasion.

The junior committee is planning to hold an event close to Christmas and would greatly appreciate the continued support from members of the club. This could be in the way of pledging their time or making a donation from their credit in the Golf-shop or a cash donation is always welcome. Also, a little reminder that the Golf-shop is now stocking some junior equipment and would gladly get you whatever you want in time for the Christmas holiday.
